It’s almost here! Yay! A special day just for Nacho, our beloved doxie, is coming this Saturday.
Doxie Palooza 3. http://www.doxiepalooza.net/
I’m not sure if I am allowed to copy and paste from a website so I’m putting the link above to cover myself, but you must read the description to this event. It is too cute not to share.
What IS a Doxie Palooza?
Doxie: An affectionate abbreviation of the word “dachshund,” a breed of dog originally bred by the Germans to search out ground prey, especially badgers. “Dachshund” means badger dog in German. Dachshunds are thought to have both hound and terrier blood in their background.
Palooza: An exaggerated event, party or festival; “flexing your creative muscles to make your own fun” [John Lithgow], from “lollapalooza,” which is a music festival. A palooza is a celebration!
So: A Doxie Palooza is a super-giant, wild and fun family-oriented free event at which dachshunds and all their lovable and amusing qualities are celebrated!
*** Doxie Palooza includes a “casual” dog show in which each doxie is shown and his/her story (as outlined on the registration form) is shared with the Doxie Palooza-goers. “Casual” dog show means the doxies are not compared to a breed standard; Doxie Palooza celebrates each doxie (& doxie mix) for his/her own individuality. Owners can show off their doxies either costumed or “bare naked.” Ribbons will be awarded for Best Costume & Cutest Bare Naked Doxie.
*** After the casual dog show, there is a doxie race to determine the fastest doxie who can focus on his owner at the finish line. As all doxie owners know, doxies are easily distracted by all the interesting aromas around them, which makes for a hilarious “race” (bring your camera!). After the doxies and small doxie mixes race, there is also a “Wanna be a Wiener” race for the large mixes and any non-doxies. There will be a ribbon for the winner of the doxie race and for the “Wanna be a Wiener” winner.
*** To conclude the festival, there will be drawings for “doxie stuff.” Owners must be present to win. Doxie stuff includes books about dachshunds (for children and for adults), doxie magnets, plush doxie toys and more.
We entered Nacho for the race and can’t wait to see what happens. He LOVES to run and we are confident that our little man will outrun any other doxie there! Even if he doesn’t, we are going to cheer him on and love on him no matter the outcome. I could go on and on about Nacho. There is definitely a story surrounding him but I will save that for another post. It’s been a busy week so far and I worked through my lunch today (when I normally write my posts). So, this is going to be short and sweet as I am writing this on my ten minute break.
Have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂
