“Flops are a part of life’s menu and I’ve never been a girl to miss out on any of the courses”

Touché. That quote by Rosalind Russell pretty much sums up how I feel right now.  I’ve flopped on my blog and I really don’t know how to make up for lost time. There isn’t much I can say except it feels good to be here again. I thought once I had the internet at home, that I would have more time and be writing every night. Boy was I wrong! Let me just say that I rarely get on the internet at home. I get my daily dose of the blogging world each morning or afternoon at work on break but by the time I leave work, go to the gym (most days), cook dinner, play with Bugaboo, get him ready for bed, and finally get him to sleep, I’m exhausted and crash.

I kept telling myself that I would write my blog the following day and then the next day and well, you know how the rest of the story goes. Before I knew it, a month had passed and then I was embarrassed to come back after being gone for so long. BUT… an awesome reader that I never even knew existed e-mailed to ask how everything was going and that they missed reading my posts. She said that she could relate to the frequent on and off again diets and failed resolution attempts. The e-mail also said that she was encouraged to not give up and to keep trying to reach her goals despite frequent set backs. So, thank you loyal reader for your words of encouragement as well as some other readers who have e-mailed to check in on me. It meant a lot.

That e-mail made me realize that I am not alone. Others out there struggle on a daily basis to reach their goals and to keep their resolutions . Some people have no problem staying focused on obtaining their goals, but for others, like me, tend to allow the smallest of things to interrupt our focus and motivation. I’m not proud that I allow myself to get off track as often as I do. It’s frustrating and embarrassing, especially to document it, because I feel that the more I share my failures, the less people will take me seriously. The truth of the matter is, I do fail and often at that, but the important thing is to learn from it, try again, and blog about it. You never know who may be going through the same thing and may need that extra encouragement that it’s ok to fail a thousand times and still dare to try again.  Thomas Edison once said, Results? Why, man, I have gotten lots of results! If I find 10,000 ways something won’t work, I haven’t failed. I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is often a step forward….”

So here, I stand (sit), AGAIN, brushing off my frustrations and embarrassment to take yet another step forward…

Tomorrow, I’m going to share some of the small steps forward I’ve been taking over the past month. Yes, there have been some positive ones for a change.

And if you’re wondering, I already wrote my posts for the remainder of the week/end. Show no fear for more posts will appear! 🙂  Sorry for the cheese factor there… couldn’t help myself!

I’m glad you’re back! I’ve thought about you often, and should have e-mailed you. So I failed in that!
Looking forward to future posts, and please don’t apologize . Blogging takes A LOT of time and effort. Sometimes I wonder how much more my hubby can stand…!

  2. LOL, I’m sure he loves that it makes you happy! I hate that I can’t pull up your blog at work anymore to comment [another one of my blogs I follow got blocked too, lol maybe they don’t know I’m on break when I’m checking them out 😉 ], but I get to read them via e-mail 🙂 And I meant to ask the other day when I was on your blog, what that red flower that you have under “blooming now” tab (I think its under that) is but forgot and now I can’t pull up anything to go back and read what it is. I just think it’s absolutely beautiful.
It’s good to be back and thanks for sticking with me!

I love that quote you used for your title. And I totally understand understand about failing at goals…I’ve posted all of…three times(??) in the last month!! I don’t think you should be embarrassed by not meeting some of the goals you set, though. If you’re failing at some goals, it’s because your winning at meeting your most important goals–taking care of your family at home and at work! And I know you do a GREAT job at that 🙂
